In January 2023 the best U19s women cricketers come together to compete in the ICC T20 World Cup.
The inaugural tournament, consisting of sixteen countries, will be hosted by South Africa. Why is this information of interest to members of FCC?
- Many of you will be aware that our former Director of Cricket and Club Captain, Chris
Guest, has been busy working for the ECB as a Level 4 coach, Regional Talent
Manager and Loughborough Lightening Head Coach. He has now been chosen as Head Coach
for the England U19 World Cup squad. Of further interest one of Chris’s assistants
will be Darren Franklin, son of our Head Groundsman Rob. - The news gets even better because selected within the U19 squad, as an allrounder, is our
very own Davina Perrin. Davina, still only 16, has rapidly progressed through the FCC junior
section ranks, Staffordshire County and Central Sparks This summer she joined Birmingham
Phoenix as the youngest player in the Women’s Hundred competition, marking her professional
cricket bow. Davina will now go to play in the World Cup, which is an exciting platform for the
best young players around the globe.
